During this time of adversity, the financial well-being of our personal banking customers is our priority. That's why we're offering a range of comprehensive relief measures to ease your financial burden. We are here to help. Please note the range of measures taken with immediate effect for our existing customers:

1.0 Managing your finances and additional liquidity to all personal banking customers

Credit Cards

  • All credit card payment due dates have been extended until 30 April 2020
  • Credit card minimum payment due reduced to 2.5%*
  • Credit card interest rate reduced to 15% on all local transactions performed up to Rs.50,000 within each statement cycle*
  • Late payment fees waived off*
  • 0% interest repayment plans up to 6 months on all medical expenses up to Rs.400,000*

Personal Loans

  • Penal interest rates on personal loans waived off*
  • Extension of loan repayment up to 60 days (This is due to any difficulty arising due to curfew, as making the payment will be a challenge. Please request for an extension via e-mail to payments@hsbc.com.lk)

Deposit Accounts

  • Cheque return fees waived off*
  • Full waiver on early withdrawal of LKR time deposits*

2.0 Providing all personal banking customers easy access and convenience for their everyday banking needs

Credit Cards

  • Free online self-registrations to HSBC Online and Mobile Banking
  • All digital banking services and transactions via HSBC online banking and mobile banking will be free of charge (no fees) for all personal banking customers of HSBC
  • Access to over 4,000 Lanka Clear and VISA Plus ATMs for all Premier and Advance customers free of charge
3.0 Hardship and forbearance support to all affected personal banking customers

Customers who are financially affected due to any furlough scheme, pay cuts or redundancy should contact the bank’s COVID-19 support team on +94 115 388 100 or e-mail us on payments@hsbc.com.lk for further assistance on the following relief programmes.

Personal Loans

  • A debt moratorium until 30 May 2020 on personal loans granted to all private sector non-executive employees
  • A 3 month debt moratorium for all personal loans of value less than Rs.1 million
  • A 6 month debt moratorium for all individuals who have lost their jobs or income due to the outbreak within the affected industries specified by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka

Credit Cards

  • Suspension of credit card payments for up to 3 months
  • Concessions on credit card interest rates up to 50% for a period of 6 months

Overdraft Facilities

  • Temporary and Permanent Overdraft facilities to be extended until 31 May and 30 September respectively at a concessionary interest rate of 13% p.a.
