Tips for overseas credit card spending
Customers may sometimes be offered the option to settle foreign currency transactions in the currency of the credit card at the point of sale overseas or when making online purchases. Such option is a direct arrangement offered by the overseas merchants or online stores but not the Bank. Since settling foreign currency transactions in the currency of the credit card may involve a higher cost, customers are reminded to make enquiries directly through the merchants or online stores for the foreign currency exchange rates and the percentage of handling fees to be applied before the transactions are settled.
