Fraudsters impersonate people or businesses you trust,
to steal your money or personal information. They often
contact you with a sense of urgency, hoping to catch you
off-guard. Scammers often trick you into thinking they
are a friend, family member or from organisations such
as banks and local authorities. They could reach out
via phone calls and request you to follow their instructions.
|
|
“I’ll need your banking credentials for further
investigation/verification.”
Your security details, PIN, OTP, password,
and other credentials are strictly personal.
HSBC would NEVER ask for this information.
|
|
“Mum, I lost my phone, I need to get a new one.
Here’s my account, can you send me some money?”
Beware of phone calls from unknown numbers.
Never transfer money unless you’re certain
it’s to the right person.
|
|
"There is an urgent request for action, or your
passport will be cancelled. You need to click
on a link that will take you to a webpage/download
a mobile application."
Always be cautious of links on e-mails
and texts. They may not be as genuine as
you would expect.
