Dear customer,
As per the provisions of The Reserve Bank of India's Master Circular (RBI/2011- 12/72 DBOD. AML. BC. No. 2 /14 .01.001/2011-12) on Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements dated 01 July 2011, it is mandatory for all banks in India to update customer identification documents (including photographs) for all accounts held on a periodic basis.
Accordingly and as mentioned in our earlier communication, we will require you to provide updated KYC documents for your HSBC India non-resident accounts.
Kindly arrange for self-attested copies of required KYC documents to reach us before 27 July 2012 to ensure continuity of service.
A list of KYC documents accepted for submission is included below:
I. A self-attested copy of proof of identity
• Passport
Note: If the passport includes the overseas address as mentioned on the declaration form, then no additional proof of address is required.
For any further clarifications, please contact the nearest HSBC India branch.
II. A self-attested copy of proof of overseas address (any one of the following)
• Passport • Work permit / Valid VISA
• Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card
• Latest electricity bill • Latest telephone bill
• Latest water bill • Permanent driving license
• Other bank statement* • Residence Permit  / Government issued Identity card.
*not older than 3 months, required for a period of 3 months with at least 2 self-induced transactions. No bounced cheque reflecting in the statement.
Note: Additional types of proof of overseas address may be acceptable in certain jurisdictions, please visit our website for more details.
III. A self-attested copy of proof of Indian address (any one of the following)
• Passport • Election / Voter's ID
• Permanent driving licence • Society outgoing bill
• Latest electricity bill • Latest telephone bill
• Latest water bill • Property tax bill
• Domicile certificate with address issued by Municipal Corporation.  
IV. A recent passport size photograph (signed across the front)
V. Declaration form: Please submit the above mentioned documents along with the declaration

Bullet   Hand over the documents to any of the HSBC branches in India; or
Bullet Scan the documents after self-attestation and email to servicekyc@hsbc.co.in from the email id registered with us or
