One time password ensures secure online transactions
on your HSBC Credit Card.

Dear Cardholder,

With effect from 27 May 2013, to provide more security for your online transactions, we are introducing the SMS One Time Password (OTP) functionality for HSBC Credit Cards. We have described the change in the authentication process to complete the online transactions on HSBC Credit Cards:

  i. Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard® SecureCodeTM are used to provide an additional security for online transactions.   i. For both primary and add-on Cardholders, every time an online transaction is effected, a new One Time Password (OTP) will be sent via SMS to your registered mobile number.
ii. These passwords are created by the primary Cardholder using HSBC Internet Banking.   ii. This OTP will have to be entered when prompted to enter the password by the online merchant website in order to complete your transaction.
iii. In case of add-on Cardholders, the date of birth (DOB) and card expiry date are used for authentication during online transactions.
